Privacy policy

NailSalonMap ("NailSalonMap," "we," "us") runs nailsalonmap.com, a local directory of nail salons that starts in Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have questions, email admin@nailsalonmap.com.
Who this policy covers
- Visitors who browse the site without an account.
- Members, customers who create a free account with an email address to get member deals.
- Salon owners who claim a listing or buy a paid plan (Featured or Premium).
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Member accounts: your email address, an optional name, your password (stored only in hashed form), the city or area you choose, and which deals you save or redeem.
- Salon owners: your name, business name, business email and phone, the salon details you submit (address, hours, services, prices, photos, descriptions and deals), and the information needed to confirm you are allowed to manage the listing.
- Messages: anything you send to admin@nailsalonmap.com or through a contact or correction form.
Payment information. Paid plans will be billed through a third-party payment processor. Your card details go straight to that processor and are not stored by NailSalonMap. We receive only limited details, such as your plan, billing status, the last four digits of the card, and the billing country and ZIP code. The processor's own privacy policy applies to the information it handles.
Information collected automatically
- Usage and device data: pages viewed, searches made on the site, links clicked (including clicks to a salon's phone, website or map), the referring page, approximate location based on IP address, browser and device type, and the date and time of each visit.
- Cookies and similar tools: see "Cookies and analytics" below.
Information from other sources. Starting salon listings come from OpenStreetMap contributors under the Open Database License (ODbL), and from salon owners. Listings are business information, not personal information about customers.
How we use information
- To run the directory, show listings, and power search.
- To create and manage member accounts and show member deals.
- To verify salon owners, publish their listings, and provide paid-plan features such as placement, badges and monthly view and click reports.
- To bill paid plans through our payment processor, including free trials and founding-member pricing.
- To send service emails, such as account confirmations, password resets, receipts and changes to these policies.
- To send occasional updates or deal emails, only if you opt in. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To measure and improve the site, prevent fraud and abuse, and keep the site secure.
- To comply with the law and enforce our Terms of use.
Member deals and salons
Deals are offered by the salons themselves. When you redeem a deal, we may tell that salon that a NailSalonMap member redeemed it, and we may share aggregate counts with salon owners, such as views, clicks and redemptions. We do not sell your email address to salons, and we do not give salons your contact details unless you choose to contact them or ask us to share them.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:
- With service providers that help us run the site, such as web hosting, email delivery, analytics and payment processing. They may use it only to provide services to us.
- With salons, as described under "Member deals and salons."
- For legal reasons: to comply with law or legal process, or to protect the rights, safety and property of NailSalonMap, our users or others.
- In a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
- With your consent.
Affiliate links
Some pages may contain affiliate links, which are always labeled. If you click one, the merchant or affiliate network may set its own cookies to credit us with a referral. Their privacy policies apply to what they collect. See our Affiliate disclosure.
Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, understand how the site is used, and credit affiliate referrals. We may use a third-party analytics service (such as Google Analytics or a privacy-focused alternative) that collects usage data on our behalf. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although some features, like staying signed in, may not work without them. Where the law requires it, we will ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies. We do not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals, but we honor Global Privacy Control signals where the law requires it.
How long we keep information
We keep account information while your account is open. We delete or anonymize it within a reasonable time after you close your account, unless we must keep it for legal, tax, accounting or security reasons. Billing records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require.
Your choices and rights
- Access, correct or delete: email admin@nailsalonmap.com, or use your account settings when they are available.
- Marketing email: use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.
- Salon listings: owners can request corrections or removal of their salon's listing. Data that came from OpenStreetMap can also be corrected at openstreetmap.org.
- State privacy rights: depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state law, such as the right to know, delete, correct or opt out of certain processing. We will honor those requests as required by law. We will verify your identity before acting on a request.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect information. No website or online service is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we learn of a data breach that affects you, we will notify you as required by Ohio law (Ohio Revised Code 1349.19) and other applicable law.
Children
The site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Member accounts require you to be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live. If you believe a child has given us information, email admin@nailsalonmap.com and we will delete it.
Links to other sites
Listings link to salons' own websites, booking pages and maps. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here with a new effective date, and we will notify members by email of material changes.
